Cornelius : Cornelius, North Carolina, is the heart of lower Lake Norman, began redeveloping their East side (pictured below) about 8 years ago. The first half of the pictures are of old (east)Cornelius,undergoing revitalization-- the new city building a landmark. Antiquity,one of my Top Ten New Home Communities will add nearly 1000 new homes, an amphitheater and loads of retail to the east side- and is accessed about 200 feet from the new City Hall. It is also the last stop of a proposed light rail line to downtown Charlotte. The 2nd half of the pictures are west Cornelius, west of Interstate 77, the Lake Norman side of 77, what most people recognize as Cornelius, with its landmark community, The Peninsula. Davidson : Davidson NC has long been known as the home of Davidson College, a well thought of liberal arts college, that was named among the New Ivy's by Newsweek this past year. "This private liberal-arts college of 1,600 has benefited from a recent surge in interest. Last year, 3,900 students applied for the class of 2010; only 30 percent were accepted. A decade earlier, admissions officers were sifting through about 2,800 applications. "We look, feel, sound like a New England liberal-arts college—but we're in North Carolina," America's New Iveys Davidson has also been a popular commuter town for folks working in North Charlotte and who like the feel of a small college town-- or New England college town as the quote above cites...Davidson has fought to keep its history and walking neighborhoods, and the new light rail will connect it to Charlotte even more. Davidson has a new neighbor in Antiquity--technically in Cornelius, but it connects Davidson with Cornelius and it has made my list for Top Ten Charlotte New Home Communitiesyou will have to see the covered bridge and turn of the century home styles to appreciate it. Antiquity in Cornelius : Antiquity in Cornelius is just coming out of the ground, and has already made my list :Terry's Charlotte Top Ten New Home Communities Why? How did it get here so fast? All reasonable questions... Start with a large beautiful tract of land that will connect downtown Cornelius with Davidson- two very popular north Charlotte suburbs Add a killer site plan, mixed use retail/commercial at the front like Birkdale, minus the movie theaters, and you get the picture. Two award winning builders- Cunnane, builder of Old Davidson and Ardrey, and Meeting Street Homes, builders of the live/work in revitalized Cornelius town center- building Charleston style homes. A land use that includes, a 2500 seat amphitheater, 30 live work townhomes, residential townhomes from the 180's, open space galore, the close streetscape, and a fabulous covered bridge entering Davidson- very nice indeed.
